About UAC

The mission of the Georgia Urban Agriculture Council  is to represent the diverse segments of urban agriculture and promote environmental stewardship.  This includes providing leadership in advocacy, education, ethics, and governmental relations.

The Georgia Urban Agriculture Council is a partnership of four associations: Metro Atlanta Landscape and Turf Association (MALTA), Georgia Turfgrass Association, Georgia Sod Producers Association and Coastal Landscape and Turf Professionals Association. The organization’s purpose is to build a stronger public awareness and understanding of urban agriculture issues and to promote the benefits of urban agriculture in enhancing the environment and our quality of life.

The urban agriculture industry is committed to being an active participant in helping Georgia through its current water crisis.  And, we continue to work with the state and local water authorities as they search for solutions to the problems associated with the continuing drought. The Georgia urban agriculture industry is one of the few industries that play a critical role in improving environmental standards in our rapidly urbanizing and suburbanizing state.  We remain committed to continuously developing and enhancing our “best management practices” so that we use less water, better manage and retain water and provide greater protection to Georgia’s sensitive natural systems.
